New York Philharmonic Ensembles 2016-17 Season to Continue at Merkin Hall With Three Spring Concerts

The 33rd season of the New York Philharmonic Ensembles series, chamber concerts showcasing Musicians from the Orchestra performing classical masterpieces and modern compositions in an intimate setting, will continue on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Merkin Concert Hall. The concert will include Menotti's Trio for Clarinet, Violin, and Piano; Schoenberg's Verklärte Nacht; and Schumann's Piano Trio No. 3.

The next Ensembles concert takes place on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. with a concert featuring Paganini's Duetto Concertante No. 2 for Violin and Bassoon; Persichetti's Serenade No. 6 for Trombone, Viola, and Cello; Busch's Piano Quintet; and Brahms's String Quintet No. 1. The final performance of the season, Sunday, May 28, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. will feature Jacob Druckman's Come Round, Mozart's String Quintet in G minor; and Dvo?ák's String Quintet in G major.

Since 1984 the Philharmonic Ensembles series has allowed audiences to experience the artistry of the Philharmonic's virtuosos in an intimate setting. Ensembles concerts are also offered on the Orchestra's international and domestic tours, on separate chamber music tours, and at locations throughout New York City.

The New York Philharmonic Ensembles concerts are funded, in part, by the Zubin Mehta Fund for the Orchestra, an endowment fund created to honor the accomplishments of the Philharmonic's former Music Director, Zubin Mehta.
