Max Von Essen, Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for An American in Paris
I was too nervous so I didn't get up to watch it, but I didn't sleep at all... I heard my boyfriend downstairs screaming so I kind of figured I got the nomination and then I checked on Twitter and I knew it was official. Honestly it's a dream come true - it's a gift - you work your whole life and you know the point of doing it, you love to do it, you want to work but things like this come along and I truly feel like an 8 year old. I've dreamed about it as a kid in Long Island and it seemed unattainable - it's surreal. I can't believe I am now one of those people nominated, it takes my breath away. Its taken some time for me - my debut was 15 years ago so its come full circle. It's really going to be like a life long celebration! It will always say Tony nominee in front of my name. I will be living this for a long time to come. It's such a gift to know that at this moment, people have responded to something I was doing and have just accepted it and enjoyed it.
