Hunky men from the 2011 Sexy in the City calendar will host "The End of the Wife Beater," an event to celebrate the launch of the 2011 Sexy in the City calendar which will raise money for Beauty Cares (BeautyCares.org), an organization founded to end the cycle of domestic violence.

"The End of the Wife Beater" will take place at Haven, 244 East 51st Street, on Thursday October 28 from 6:30-9 pm. Admission at the door is $20. Proceeds from the event and calendar sales will benefit Beauty Cares.

"It's very exciting to see men taking a stand against domestic violence," said Aryn Quinn, founder and CEO of Beauty Cares, "and I'm so grateful to this wonderful group of guys for giving back to Beauty Cares."

Celebrities are also taking a stand against domestic violence by designing and signing A-shirts - commonly referred to as "wife beaters" - which will be auctioned at the event by award-winning comedian and journalist Maureen Langan (MaureenLangan.com). Celebrity "wife-beaters"include Betsey Johnson, Anna Sui, Elizabeth Taylor, Kim Kardashian, Denise Richards, Charles Busch, Christine Ebersole, Sylvia Miles, The Guys from "The A List", Amanda Lapore, Anita Gillette and Oscar Blandi.

"We love the t-shirts," said Quinn, "but don't like what people call them. At this event we are officially re-naming the shirts "The HotTee."

Beauty Cares' mission is to break the cycle of domestic violence for women and children.
They examine the fundamental roots of domestic violence and the factors that perpetuate the cycle - silence, shame, denial, misconceptions, family history and wounded self-esteem. Beauty Cares then creates dynamic, powerful programs and initiatives to enable women and children to break free.

Corporate sponsors for the event are Avion Tequila, Calderone Public Relations, Haven, Serendipity, RTR Packaging, Blue Bay Distributing Inc., Total Exposure Designs, Terra Fossil Wines and AquaForté with more to come.

The calendar featuring photos by New York City writer and photographer Bob Johnson, is available online at www.SexyInTheCityCalendar.com.
