Nominations in 27 competitive categories for the American Theatre Wing's 63rd Annual Antoinette Perry "Tony"® Awards were announced today by Tony Award Winners Cynthia Nixon and Lin-Manuel Miranda from the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. The Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards are bestowed annually on theatre professionals for distinguished achievement. The Tony is one of the most coveted awards in the entertainment industry and the annual telecast is considered one of the most prestigious programs on television.

The American Theatre Wing's 63rd Annual Antoinette Perry "Tony"® Awards will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 7, 2009 (8-11pm, live EST, PT time delay) on the CBS Television Network. For more information visit tonyawards.com.

Nicky Gillibrand (Billy Elliot)
Nicky Gillibrand won the Gold Medal for Costume Design at the 2003 Prague Quadrenale, for the Royal Shakespeare Company's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Recent work: By the Bog of Cats (Wyndhams Theatre), Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Queen of Spades, Paul Bunyan (Royal Opera House), Tales From the Vienna Woods, Powerbook, Mother Clap's Molly House, Lady in the Dark (Royal National Theatre), Pelleas et Melisande (Bavarian State Opera), The Miserly Knight and Gianni Schicchi (Glyndebourne Festival Opera), La Traviata (Opera North), Jumpers (RNT, West End, Broadway), Proverb (Royal Ballet), Wind in the Willows (ROH2), Camille (Lyric Hammersmith Theatre), War and Peace (Paris Opera), Peter Grimes and Boris Godunov (ENO and Toronto), Don Carlos (Opera North, Minnesota Opera).

 

Tim Hatley (Shrek The Musical)
Winner of the 2005 Drama Desk Award for Spamalot. Winner of 2002 Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Private Lives on Broadway. Winner of the 2002 Olivier Award for Humble Boy and Private Lives in the West End and a 1997 Olivier Award for Stanley at the Royal National Theatre. Broadway credits: Private Lives, Vincent in Brixton, The Crucible, Stanley. Film credits: StageBeauty (Costume Designer), Closer (Production Designer) and Notes on a Scandal (Production & Costume designer). Previous theatre work includes working with Theatre de Complicite, Royal National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, English National Opera and London's West End. Graduated from Central Saint Martins School of Art, London.

 

Michael McDonald (Hair)
Michael McDonald, a Libra, is blessed to be a part of this production since the 40th Anniversary Concert in 2007. The Public: Hair (Delacorte Theater). Off-Broadway: Tartuffe (Tribeca Playhouse), Amahl and the Night Visitors (Lincoln Center), Measure for Measure (Expanded Arts). Regional: Take Me Out (Repertory Theatre of St. Louis); Dirty Blond, Omnium Gatherum and Crowns (Zachary Scott Theatre); Amadeus, Sweeney Todd, The Laramie Project, Angels in America (Chatham Playhouse). Broadway: assistant costume designer for two Tony Award-winning Best Plays: The Goat and Take Me Out, as well as Arthur Miller's The Ride Down Mt. Morgan. Costume painting for productions including The Seagull; Mother Courage and Her Children starring Meryl Streep; Radiant Baby; Caroline, or Change; and the Pulitzer Prize-winning Topdog/Underdog.
