On May 23, 2016, 20,000 Special Needs Students from NYC School District 75 will break World Records at Citi Field dressed in the superhero costumes of their most empowered selves for a colossal SuperYou FUNdation event.

Setting and breaking two Guinness World Records, this stadium event will gather 20,000 special needs students from NYC District 75, the largest special needs school district in the world. This massive gathering of students from all five boroughs of NYC will sing, dance, and chant music from the SuperYou FUNdation curriculum dressed in their self-designed superhero costumes.

On the premise that every child is special and has an inner superhero, the largest Special Needs/ Special Education district in the world will be celebrated as superheroes at a culminating SuperYou FUNdation event. With the theme of "Re-Defining the Meaning of "Special," multi-media will highlight student superhero actions collected throughout the school year and students will march, sing, dance, present, and perform songs and poetry from the SuperYou FUNdation curriculum to celebrate their superhero selves. This stadium congregation of students during the school day is not just an event; it's an educational revolution, the likes of which have never been seen or gathered in one place.

In partnership with the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the NYC Department of Education, The SuperYou FUNdation (www.superyoufun.org) is a non-profit organization for youth to notice and celebrate the superhero qualities in themselves and others so that they feel inspired to positively impact their communities.

Healthcorps, the educational charity founded by Dr. Mehmet and Lisa Oz, is a partner of the SuperYou FUNdation and has used the curriculum in its classrooms in New York City. As support for the May 23 record breaking day, Dr. Oz and Healthcorps will launch a viral #superyoufun challenge on social media. Participants will be encouraged to find their superhero name and power pose while challenging friends to do the same.

The high-energy, charismatic founder and visionary of the SuperYou FUNdation is underground NYC celebrity and rock musician, Lourds Lane. As host and master of ceremonies, she will be leading the stadium in song and dance, while wailing on the electric violin from second base. Lourds is the book/music/lyrics writer of the Broadway-bound musical, Chix 6, (www.chix6.com), a children's book author, a global keynote speaker, songwriter, and touring musician. Whether it be through music, writing, presentation, or performance, Lourds' pervasive message sings out loud and proud - "The Superhero is You." For a more detailed bio on Lourds click here.
