Yes, now in our 15th year, LES is still more. The Lower East Side Festival of the Arts loves to bring back old favorites while continuing to always spice it up with new talent so we keep evolving.
If you've been suffering from A.D.S. (Arts Deprivation Syndrome) or have simply spent the last 14 Memorial Day Weekends out of town-but now find yourself Kicking off your Summer in NYC-Welcome back into the Cultural Continuum.
Here's a little bit of what you need to know to catch up and get hipified to what we're all about:
First, be aware that despite the economic blues that still prevails-Our Festival is hanging in and remains Free, our gift to New York City and the whole world, judging by the panopoly of delightful and different kinds of accents heard amongst the 4,000 or so people who partake of LES each year.
Second, next, and ad-infinitum, we are here to joyously pay homage to the arts, in all their magical forms, that have come out of the Lower East Side and East Village, revel in its current artistic scene and initiate its blossoming future.
LES is Theater, Music, Dance, Comedy, Poetry, Performance Art, Film, Video and Fine Art (painting and sculpture). Our artists always run the rainbow and we seek to entertain, provoke thought, and inspire the best in the human heart.
