With Spamalot officially returning to Broadway tonight, we're taking a walk down memory lane and reflecting on some of the stars who have appeared in previous productions of the musical. From Broadway to London, Chicago, touring productions, Las Vegas, the Hollywood Bowl, and more, there have been many faces you may recognize who have taken on these roles.
For some context on the productions of Spamalot referenced here, the original Chicago production began previews in Chicago's Shubert Theatre (now the CIBC Theatre) on December 21, 2004 and officially opened on January 9, 2005.
The musical then previewed on Broadway at New York's Shubert Theatre, beginning February 14, 2005, ahead of an official opening on March 17. It ran through January 11, 2009.
The original London production of Spamalot opened at the Palace Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue in the West End, on September 30, 2006, where it ran through January 3, 2009.
Following several touring productions, the musical was revived in the West End in 2012, beginning performances at the Playhouse Theatre on November 14, where it ran until April 12, 2014.
A star-studded Hollywood Bowl production was held in 2015, which marked the last large-scale production of the musical before it came to the Kennedy Center this year ahead of its Broadway transfer.

Best known for playing the iconic Dr. Frank-N-Further in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, stage and screen star Tim Curry played King Arthur in the original Chicago, Broadway, and West End productions of Spamalot.
No stranger to the stage, Hannah Waddingham, who is now best known for her roles in Game of Thrones and Ted Lasso, played The Lady of the Lake in the original West End production, and she also served as a Broadway replacement in the same role. This marked her Broadway debut, in January 2008.
Voice actor, comedian, and performer Hank Azaria appeared as Sir Lancelot in the original Chicago and Broadway productions, which also marked his Broadway debut.
Tony Award-winning stage and screen actor David Hyde Piece played the role of Sir Robin in both the original Chicago and Broadway productions.
Broadway veteran Michael McGrath played Patsy in the original Chicago and Broadway productions.
Before he was Lord Farquaad, Billy Flynn, or many of his other notable Broadway roles, Christopher Sieber played Sir Galahad in the original Chicago, Broadway, and West End productions of Spamalot.
Now known to many as a big stage and screen star, two-time Tony winner Christian Borle played Prince Herbert in the original Chicago and Broadway productions of Spamalot.
A well known screen star, perhaps best known for his work on The Office, Craig Robinson played King Arthur in the Hollywood Bowl production of Spamalot.
Actress and singer Merle Dandrige played The Lady of the Lake in the Hollywood Bowl production after appearing as a Broadway replacement for the same role in September 2008.
No stranger to the stage, Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson also appeared in the Hollywood Bowl production as Sir Robin.
Best known for his film work, Christian Slater also made an appearance as Sir Galahad in the Hollywood Bowl production of Spamalot.
Television personality John O'Hurley appeared as King Arthur in Spamalot in Las Vegas and also was a Broadway replacement in the same role.
The Las Vegas production began previews on March 8, 2007 and opened on March 31, at the Wynn Las Vegas in the newly renamed Grail Theater. The final performance took place on July 18, 2008.
O'Hurley also appeared in the Muny's production of Spamalot in St. Louis in 2013.
British stage and screen star Simon Russell Beale was a replacement in both the Broadway and West End productions of Spamalot, in the role of King Arthur. He began in the Broadway production on December 20, 2005, marking his second Broadway role after appearing in Jumpers the previous year.
American Idol album Clay Aiken was yet another star who appeared as a replacement on Broadway. He took on the role of Sir Robin for several dates through 2008 and 2009.
British actress, dancer, and singer Bonnie Langford appeared in the West End revival of Spamalot as The Lady of the Lake, and went on to lead the UK tour as well.
