How close is too close? Get up close and personal with some of the hottest choreographers in town and experience dance outside of the boundaries of traditional performance. Bearded Ladies Productions returns to the Theater at the 14th Street Y with the Y Cabaret for their third time, featuring a brand new line-up of artists. The Y Cabaret is committed to giving audiences a fun and relaxed environment to experience and enjoy contemporary dance. During the past 18 months, Y Cabaret has presented more than 20 different artists and sold out the two previous performances.
Y Cabaret features seven choreographers showcasing new and existing works and is hosted by Master of Ceremonies Clinton Edward. Audiences will experience the weird, the sensual, the funny, the sexy, and the entertaining in our dance cabaret; and what better way to do that than with a drink in hand?

Wesley Ensminger
Wesley Ensminger, originally from Santa Cruz, CA, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance Performance and Choreography from California Institute of the Arts. Wesley has had the privilege of being able dance, teach and perform all around the United States as well as internationally in Canada and Europe. He has worked with a vast range dance companies, choreographers and artists including Jacob Jonas the Company, BodyTraffic, Dana Metz Co, Andrew Winghart, Teddy Forance, Nick Lanzisera and many more. He currently lives in New York City, constantly creating and sharing his love of movement.
Michaela Catherine McGowan
Michaela Catherine McGowan is a graduate of Tisch Dance ('12) and freelance performs and teaches in and around the NYC tri-state area. Pairing classical technique with abstract athleticism, Michaela aims to create momentum-based, full-body contemporary movement. Instagram: @michaela_catherine
UNA Projects
Founded by Artistic Director and Choreographer Chuck Wilt in 2013, UNA Projects has since been co-presented by the ODC Theater and presented by Jacob's Pillow Inside/Out, Springboard Danse Montreal, Dumbo Dance Festival, Tisch Summer Dance Festival, Triskelion Arts, Current Sessions, DANCENOW Raw, CPR and more. Wilt received creative residencies from Silo, Tisch Dance and KT Nelson's RoundAntennae of which he was a selected mentee in addition to Doug Varone's DEVICES. Wilt has been an emerging choreographer at Springboard Danse Montreal and, along with company members, has taught at Velocity Dance Center (WA), Gibney Dance Center (NYC), Lowell High School (CA), ODC Dance Commons (CA), SF Arts Institute (CA), LAB Sessions/IATI Studios (NYC) and Booker T. CATASTROPHE!
Cat Cogliandro received her BFA in Dance from SUNY Purchase and since then has worked with choreographers such as Cherice Barton, Al Blackstone, Tyce Diorio, Mike Esperanza, Jason Gorman, Juliette Irons, Sonya Tayeh, Teddy Tedholm, Jaci Royal and Andrew Winghart. She was one of the featured "From Stage to Studio" teachers in Dance Teacher Magazine (Dec 2014), was named one of Dance Spirit Magazine's "Fresh Voices: 13 of the Dance World's Hottest Young Choreographers" (Nov 2014) and was one of the featured "Dancers With Degrees" in Dance Spirit Magazine (Sept 2015). She was also one of ten choreographers chosen to compete on the first season of Nigel Lythgoe's new competitive choreographer show, Every Single Step, on Verizon's Go90 app. Cat is currently on faculty at The Edge in Los Angeles and Movement Lifestyle, and guest teaches at studios such as Broadway Dance Center, Millennium Dance Complex (LA and Pittsburgh) and Peridance, along with Celebrity Dance Convention, and is the creator of her own Dance Company, CATASTROPHE! BARE Dance Company
BARE Dance Company was established in 2005 by Mike Esperanza with the help of Dance/ USA and the Irvine Foundation. Over the years, BARE's versatile approach to movement has been described as "smart, effective, technically accomplished work"by Michael Upchurch of theSeattle Times. BARE relocated to New York City in 2012 and has since then produced work for Danspace Project, Dixon Place, Peridance, Bryant Park, 14th Street Y, LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, and Ailey Citigroup Theater. BARE received the inaugural CUNY Dance Initiative award in 2014 to premiere a new work at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center. MICHIYAYA Dance
MICHIYAYA Dance is an all women's contemporary dance theater company based in New York City. Co-founded in fall 2015 by Anya Clarke and Mitsuko Verdery, MICHIYAYA Dance merges the worlds of Clarke and Verdery's background in dance and visual art. As an allwomen company, MICHIYAYA Dance expands the scope of female expression, producing sensual yet abstract qualities. Together they produce collaborative and improvisational-based work with their dance artists.
