Pan American Musical Art Research (PAMAR), founded in 1984 by Uruguayan-born pianist Polly Ferman, now Artistic Director of PAMAR, presents the 13th Annual Latin American Cultural Week(s) (LACW), November 13 through 21, 2018. (Additional events precede & follow official dates.) In support of the #MeToo #Yo También movement, we feature women artists of the Americas. Polly Ferman, states 'I don't know the figures of how many women do not have their rights or are not recognized in Latin America or in the U.S., but one woman not respected or appreciated is too much. That's why we feature this year Latin American Women in the Arts, and support the #MeToo #YoTambién movement."

This program is also supported, in part, by public funds from The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, a Discretionary Grant through the office of New York City Councilmember Ydanis Rodriguez, and a grant from NYC & Company Foundation through the Office of Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer.

PAMAR's Mission is to promote and preserve, and create awareness and appreciation of, Latin American arts and culture and their roots in Iberia, Africa, Arabic and other cultures, in New York City and beyond. PAMAR serves performing, visual and film, and literary artists eager to expand awareness of and appreciation for their work. We serve audiences familiar with these art forms, while developing audiences often unused to them, collaborating with libraries, houses of worship, government agencies, schools, community centers, as well as traditional performing, visual arts, literary, and film venues, and festivals. Founded in 1984 by Uruguayan-born pianist Polly Ferman, PAMAR was originally focused on promoting Latin American classical-to-contemporary composers, often little known outside their native countries. PAMAR has expanded to include choreographers and dancers, traditional arts, indigenous arts and artists, and spoken word and film. Visit us at http://www.pamar.org
