13 Original Cast Album Gets Remastered Re-release, 11/24

According to the Sh-K-Boom website, The Original Broadway Cast Recording of Jason Robert Brown's 13 (originally released in Fall 2008) has now been updated to include enhancements made to the show by Brown with book writers Robert Horn and Dan Elish after its Broadway premiere for upcoming regional and school productions around the world. The new CD will be available in stores from Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records on November 24. 

13 tells the story of 13-year-old Evan Goldman as he moves from New York City to Appleton, Indiana, and his dilemma when the move conflicts with the celebration of his becoming a Bar Mitzvah. 

Included in this new two-disc version of the show are, on disk 1, two new songs, "Being A Geek" and "Opportunity," and Brown's original demos of "A Little More Homework" and "Getting Over It" (which was included in the show's L.A. production) performed by Brown, while the second disk will feature nine karaoke tracks without vocals designed to encourage a sing along by educators, student, and theater enthusiasts alike. Two of the songs are even presented in different keys so that boys with changing voices have an option. 

The musical premiered on January 7, 2007 at The Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, CA and ran through February 18, 2007. The production was directed by Todd Graff, with choreography by Michele Lynch, and the cast and band were all teenagers. The show was presented at the Norma Terris Theater in Chester, Connecticut, by Goodspeed Musicals from May 9, 2008 through June 8, 2008, with direction by Jeremy Sams and choreography by Christopher Gattelli. It opened on Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on September 16, 2008 in previews, with an official opening on October 5, 2008, and ran through January 4, 2009. The company starred Al Calderon (Eddie), Eamon Foley (Richie), Caitlin Gann (Molly), Elizabeth Gillies (Lucy), Ariana Grande (Charlotte), Aaron Simon Gross (Archie), Malik Hammond (Malcolm), Joey La Varco (Simon), Delaney Moro (Kendra), Eric Nelsen (Brett), Graham Phillips (Evan), Allie Trimm (Patrice), and Brynn Williams (Cassie).
