The Argentinean Consulate of New York City will host the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Anabella Lenzu/DanceDrama with a festive evening of a performance of Lenzu works, a Q&A session with the Argentinean choreographer/dancer, and refreshments. In a fast-paced retrospective of Lenzu's dance/theater works, the Company will perform excerpts from her full-length productions:Che, Tango (2001), Amen (2006), Ilusiones de Percantas (2007), Disguise (2007), The Garden (2008), Entroterra(2008), The Corral (2009), The Grass is Always Greener...(2010-11), Sangre y Arena (2012), Pachamama: Mother World (2013), and In Pursuit of Happiness (2014).

About the Company
10 years, 300 performances, 12 choreographic works in 80 venues around the world
Anabella Lenzu has distinguished herself over the past 10 years with her thought-provoking and historically conscious dance/theater company, breaking down the wall separating artist from audience. Based in New York, the Company's mission is to establish and develop a cultural, educational and artistic exchange between the communities of the U.S., Argentina, and Italy. With a fresh approach to each new subject, Lenzu explores themes of collective memory, individual identity, and social awareness by having dancers and audiences fuse in a psychological and emotional experience.

The Company premiered at Dance New Amsterdam in October 2006, and has subsequently appeared at many NYC venues, including the 92nd Street Y, Baryshnikov Arts Center, LaMaMa E.T.C., Sheen Theater, Dixon Place, Roulette, Art in Odd Places, and more, as well as the Centro Cultural Borges in Buenos Aires, and the Centro Cultural e Historico Universidad del Sur, Teatro Municipal and Museo de Arte Contemporaneo in Bahia Bianca.

About Anabella Lenzu

The dancer/choreographer/teacher was classically trained at the renowned Buenos Aires Teatro Colon in her native Argentina, followed by studies of the techniques of Humphrey/Limon and Graham in New York. Her extensive knowledge of Tango and the folkdances of Argentina, Spain, and Italy further inform her work. Lenzu draws on her diverse background to create provocative, highly individual dance/theatre works, and her choreography has been commissioned by companies around the world for opera, TV, theatre productions, and dance companies, including the Anna Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble (NY) and Movimento Danza (Naples, Italy). Lenzu founded her own dance school, L'Atelier Centro Creativo de Danza, in Bahia Bianca Argentina in 1994 and has maintained an active teaching career ever since. She currently teaches at Peridance Center and Wagner College.

Also an author, Lenzu published her first book, Unveiling Motion and Emotion, in 2013. The bilingual book, written in Spanish and English, contains writings on the importance of dance, community, choreography, and dance pedagogy. Unveiling Motion and Emotion received an Honorable Mention Best Art Book/Spanish or Bilingual, from the International Latino Book Awards in San Francisco as part of the American Library Association Conference.
