Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter Patty Griffin, composer of Atlantic Theater Company's world premiere musical 10 Million Miles, will make her "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" debut tonight, Tuesday, April 10th at 11:35pm (EST) to perform the single "I Don't Ever Give Up" from her new album "Children Running Through."
Griffin's recently released album "Children Running Through" debuted at #34 in the Billboard Top 200. Over 27,000 records were sold in its first week of release, marking the biggest debut of the celebrated singer/songwriter's career. Griffin is currently on a U.S. tour and will play New York's Beacon Theater on April 19th.
Irene Molloy, Matthew Morrison, Skipp Sudduth and Mare Winningham will star in the new musical featuring music and lyrics by Grammy Award-nominated recording artist Patty Griffin ("Impossible Dream"), a book by Keith Bunin (The Credeaux Canvas) and direction by Tony Award-nominee Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening).
10 Million Miles will begin previews on Friday, May 11th, open on Thursday, June 14th and play a limited engagement through Sunday, July 1st, 2007 Off-Broadway at Atlantic Theater Company at The Linda Gross Theater. (336 West 20th Street).
The musical, according to press materials, "tells the story of Duane (Morrison) and Molly's (Molloy) road trip in an old pick-up truck from the southern tip of Florida to the Northwest corner of New York, with many detours along the way. With a book by Keith Bunin and songs by Patty Griffin, the world premiere of this new musical explores the pursuit of love and family, and the geography of the American dream.
Two-time Grammy Award nominated recording artist Patty Griffin's celebrated songwriting has been embraced by a diverse assortment of artists, including The Dixie Chicks, Bette Midler, Reba McEntire, Jessica Simpson and Linda Ronstadt, all of whom have recorded her songs. Her newly released album "Children Running Through" continues her creative evolution. Keith Bunin's acclaimed play The Busy World is Hushed had its world premiere Off-Broadway last season and recently concluded a Los Angeles engagement featuring original star Jill Clayburgh. His plays include The Credeaux Canvas and The World Over. Three-time Tony Award-nominee Michael Mayer (Thoroughly Modern Millie, A View From the Bridge) returns to Atlantic, where he staged the smash hit world premiere production of Spring Awakening last season.
The musical will play Tuesday through Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm & 8pm and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. All tickets will be $65.00 and available by calling Ticket Central at 212-279-4200 (www.ticketcentral.com) beginning Monday, March 26, 2007. Please note: there will be 7:30 p.m. performances on Sunday, May 13th & 20th and no 3:00 p.m. matinees. There will be no performance on Sunday, June 3rd.
