OPERA IN FOUR ACTS (1842)
Libretto in Italian by Temistocle Solera, based on the Old Testament and the French play Nabuchodonosor by Francis Cornue and Anicète Bourgeois
New Teatro Colón production
This piece, Verdi’s third opera and first great success, revolves around the story of the exile of the Israeli people and their captivity in Babylon, intermingled with the passion of love and faith. Nabucco was premiered in the Americas at Teatro Colón in 1914, under the direction of Tullio Serafin. It was only performed in four seasons and now it is returning in a new production by the renowned Italian director Stefano Poda.
