Caligula at Teatro Colón

Following the modernist tradition that characterized our house since its very inception, the Teatro Colón lyric season will be inaugurated by the opera of the 21st Century with
Caligula. Premiered in Frankfurt in 2006, the work by Detlev Glanert holds absolute topicality and great communicative power. Having studied under Hans Werner Henze, Glanert achieves in this piece the perfect combination between his refinement for instrumental and vocal composition, and the enthralling account of the last days of a powerful man pierced by cruelty and insanity.
