In the Appleton region, traditional theater offerings taper off during the summer as music festivals pop up. But never fear, theater fans! There are still plenty of great offerings if you are prepared to venture off your well-worn theater trail to these unique summer offerings.

Northern Sky Theater

Located in Fish Creek in scenic Door County, Northern Sky Theater will perform four different musicals throughout the week on their outdoor stage. These musicals are written by primarily Midwesterners with Midwest themes like butter and lumberjacks.

Door Shakespeare

From late June through late August, Door Shakespeare will alternately present outdoor productions of JULIUS CAESAR and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM in Baileys Harbor in Door County.

Peninsula Players

Billed as "America's oldest resident summer theater," Peninsula Players will perform the plays CHAPATTI, THE HOLLOW, and ALABAMA STORY and the musical THE FULL MONTY in their covered theater in Door County's Fish Creek this summer. Plus, where else can you enjoy an intermission bonfire?

The Palace Theater in Wisconsin Dells

This summer, The Palace Theater in Wisconsin Dells will present MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET. This is a dinner theater, so you can also enjoy a meal while you are there.

Kids from Wisconsin

For anyone unfamiliar with Kids from Wisconsin, it is a group of talented young Wisconsinites that presents a musical revue full of song and dance. During the summer, the group performs throughout the state. Performances are scheduled throughout the Appleton region this summer, including stops in Wauwatosa, Marshfield, Manitowoc, Stevens Point, Brillion, Wisconsin Rapids, Fond du Lac, and DePere.

So between the music festivals, fairs, and cookouts, why not get out and enjoy some great theater?
