This engaging Tony Award-winning adventure is a fast-paced boisterous comedy featuring 150 characters from Alfred Hitchcock's classic film performed by a ridiculously talented cast of three men and one woman.
"Patrons arrive early for the performances at Peninsula Players to enjoy the shoreline view from our charming location while enjoying the amenities of the Luna Bar and Canteen," said BrIan Kelsey the Peninsula Players managing director. "Adjusting the curtain times on Sundays for 'The 39 Steps' allows patrons to continue to savor the Players experience they've come to relish in the summer - exploring the gardens and grounds of the outdoor lobby before settling in for a memorable performance by our artistic company."
"The 39 Steps" is adapted from John Buchan's adventure book. Buchan is considered the father of the spy-adventure genre of fiction; playwright Barlow adapted Hitchcock's film of the book to the stage. In tribute to both the book and film, Barlow spoofs it. "The 39 Steps" is filled with dangerous femme fatales, dastardly villains, deadly assassins and lightning-fast costume changes.
"The Sunday 3 p.m. performance time is new for the Players this fall," Kelsey said. "In past seasons we have scheduled Sunday 4 p.m. matinees around the Green Bay Packer schedule. We hope by moving the matinee time to 3 p.m. on select Sundays it will provide additional daylight travel time to and from the theater for travelers. 'The 39 Steps' is a fast-paced, riotous adventure Players audiences will not want to miss. These changes and additions to the curtain times provide an opportunity for all in the region to enjoy this hilarious homage to Hitchcock's classic spy thriller."
