In honor of its 10th Anniversary Season, the
Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in downtown Appleton will host a variety of Signature Events inviting local artists and audiences to be part of a yearlong celebration at the Center. Events include a free
10th Anniversary Open House in August, collaborative community performances featuring local arts organizations and
ROAR: A 10th Anniversary Safari Event in connection with
Disney's The Lion King.
10TH ANNIVERSARY OPEN HOUSE
On August 17 and 18, the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center will host a 10th Anniversary Open House for the public to kick off the season festivities with free entertainment, backstage tours, theater workshops and activities for all ages. Maria Van Laanen, the Center's executive vice president, said, "It seems so perfect to launch our 10th Anniversary Season with an Open House for the community. This organization is such a success because people in the Fox Cities have embraced the Center and made it a part of their lives. We want to say thank you, and invite everyone in the community to join in celebrating the dream they made a reality back in 2002."
After a special mayoral proclamation on Friday, August 17 at 5:30 p.m., the Center will host a discussion panel of founders sharing how the dream of building a community performing arts center became a reality in the Fox Cities. Later, entertainment will include TC Dance Club International as they lead ballroom dance lessons onstage and live music from Big Mouth & The Power Tool Horns. On Saturday, August 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the Center will have activities for the whole family to enjoy including live entertainment, backstage tours, theater workshops for ages 13+ and hands-on activities for younger children. At 11:30 a.m. all eyes will be on the Main Lobby as attendees create a

MAKAROFF YOUTH BALLET'S THE NUTCRACKER
FEATURING THE FOX VALLEY SYMPHONY
On December 8 and 9, the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center will present
Makaroff Youth Ballet's The Nutcracker featuring the Fox Valley Symphony. With live music and enhanced sets and costumes, the performance is the culmination of years of planning. Jeanette Makaroff, artistic director of Makaroff Youth Ballet, explained, "We are overflowing with excitement about the upcoming

SPIRITED SONGS: A CELEBRATION OF CHORAL MUSIC
On February 9, 2013 the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center will present Spirited Songs: A Celebration of Choral Music featuring the Appleton Boychoir, Lawrence Academy Girl Choir and White Heron Chorale. Drawing on a wealth of choral talent in the Fox Cities, this performance will highlight the best of each group and combine their talents for a rare ensemble performance. Tickets for Spirited Songs: A Celebration of Choral Music start at $18 and will go on sale to the public on Monday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m.
ROAR: A 10TH ANNIVERSARY SAFARI EVENT
A behind-the-scenes look at Disney's The Lion King rounds out the Center's Signature Events with ROAR: A 10th Anniversary Safari Event, featuring select crew members from the touring production. On Monday, April 22, 2013 the Center will welcome guests on a special journey to discover the secrets and stagecraft of this musical that has entertained millions of theatergoers worldwide. The event is an opportunity to celebrate the performing arts that have helped shape the community in the past 10 years and includes pre-event and post-event receptions. Tickets forROAR: A 10th Anniversary Safari Event will cost $100 and will go on sale to the public on Monday, July 23 at 10:00 a.m. Space is limited. Please note, tickets for this event do not include a performance of The Lion King, and proceeds from ROAR: A 10th Anniversary Safari Event will support the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center and its mission-based programs.
