The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center presented the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra, Hearing Loss Association of America - Fox Valley Chapter and the Makaroff Youth Ballet with its 2012-13 Season Distinguished Service Award Tuesday in recognition of their ongoing support of the Center to enhance the enjoyment of life through the creation and presentation of the arts. Each of the organizations have partnered with the Fox Cities P.A.C. since its opening in 2002 and fostered continued growth of the Center.

"In keeping with the Fox Cities P.A.C.'s 10th Anniversary, we wanted to recognize organizations that have helped us to achieve and promote our mission of providing a place for the community to gather, connect and share," said Susan Stockton, president. "All three have made a significant impact and we are grateful for their contributions."

The Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra, a resident partner, has formed a tight-knit relationship with the Center to enhance each other's missions through collaborations such as last season's Handel's Messiah and this season's The Nutcracker Ballet. The symphony orchestra utilizes the Center as its home theater for performances. As an artistic anchor for the communities we serve, the symphony orchestra provides compelling performances and engaging learning opportunities. Roseanna Cannizzo, executive director of the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra, accepted the award.

Hearing Loss Association of America - Fox Valley Chapter is the nation's foremost consumer organization representing people with hearing loss. The Fox Valley Chapter is one of the organization's 200 local chapters. HLAA - Fox Valley Chapter was instrumental in raising awareness and funds for the Center's hearing loop. This enhancement made the Fox Cities P.A.C. the first Broadway presenting venue in Wisconsin to offer patrons the technology making the Center accessible to as many people as possible. Gene Van Asten accepted the award on behalf of HLAA.

Makaroff Youth Ballet also was recognized for their efforts. This season, the Center partnered with MYB to co-produce events such as The Nutcracker Ballet which will return for future performances. The nonprofit youth ballet company serves the Fox Valley and the surrounding communities of Wrightstown, Green Bay, Kaukauna, Little Chute, Appleton, Menasha, Neenah, Oshkosh, Waupaca and Hortonville, while making the fine art of ballet accessible to the community. Jeanette Makaroff continues the legacy of excellence in ballet that was started by her parents, Nikolai and Juanita Makaroff, in 1960 and accepted the award for the organization.

John Hogerty, the Center's chairman of the board, presented the awards Tuesday in front of 85 guests at the annual Chairman's Dinner. Each organization will be added to the Distinguished Service Award plaque in the Fox Cities P.A.C.'s Main Lobby.

The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in downtown Appleton, provides a premier venue for live performing arts. Since 2002, the Center has proudly served as a gathering place for the community to engage in educational opportunities while enhancing a greater understanding and appreciation of the live performing arts.
