Students in Perseverance theatre's STAR program open performances Disney's The Lion King Jr, Hamlet, and an original piece written by the students: North Star Vaud on July 21. STAR is a youth acting program that provides theatrical training and performance opportunities to students who are excited about theatre. In addition to rehearsals, students participate in daily workshops on voice, movement and acting technique, culminating in three fully produced productions.

Hamlet
By William Shakespeare, cutting by Doniece Gott
The tragedy of Hamlet is an epic story of betrayal and revenge. Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark, sets out to avenge his father's death after a spine-chilling apparition tells him his uncle was responsible. Performed with the original Shakespearean language, Hamlet takes audiences on a high-stakes roller coaster ride of love and loss.

Performances: July 22 at 2:00 pm; July 26 at 7:30 pm; July 29 at 7:30 pm

North Star Vaud
Devised by STAR students led by K. Brian Neel
Before there was YouTube, there was Vaudeville: entertainment made up of short plays, physical comedy, monologues, sketches, improvisation, even song and dance. Students are using classic written material as well as creating their own. Part of the show will be recorded for the internet as Podcast Theater, complete with live Foley sound effects.

Performances: July 22 at 7:30 pm; July 27 at 7:30 pm; July 29 at 2:00 pm
