Perseverance Theatre presents Annapurna, an exciting new play by one of America's fresh new voices, Sharr White.
Twenty years ago, Emma walked out on her husband, Cowboy-poet Ulysses, in the middle of a night that he can't remember and that she will never forget. He's in trouble and living alone when she discovers him in the wilds of a low-rent Colorado trailer park. She finds him hooked to an oxygen tank, working on an epic poem, and cooking breakfast in the buff. Their bizarre reunion contains both rage and compassion, framing a story that rides the fine line of tragedy and comedy, laughter and loss.
The cast features Rebecca George and Kevin T. Bennett. George has performed with Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre, Hyperion Theatre Company, Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Vermont Stage Company, Clarence Brown Theatre Company and most recently in Perseverance Theatre's production of Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England. George has directed for Opera Fairbanks, Hyperion Theatre Company, The Winter Bear Project and Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre. She has taught acting at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks and will be directing Theatre UAF's 2016 spring production. Originally from Alaska, Kevin T. Bennett has over 34 years of performance experience and has worked in over 100 productions. At Perseverance, he has played a variety of roles, including Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol and George in Of Mice and Men. He has served as President, Secretary, and Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Anchorage Community Theatre. Also an avid screen actor, Bennett adapted, directed, and co-starred in the 2014 dark comedy, Six Dead Bodies Duct-Taped to a Merry-Go-Round, which premiered at the Anchorage International Film Festival.
