Perseverance Theatre presents Annapurna, an exciting new play by one of America's fresh new voices, Sharr White.

Twenty years ago, Emma walked out on her husband, Cowboy-poet Ulysses, in the middle of a night that he can't remember and that she will never forget. He's in trouble and living alone when she discovers him in the wilds of a low-rent Colorado trailer park. She finds him hooked to an oxygen tank, working on an epic poem, and cooking breakfast in the buff. Their bizarre reunion contains both rage and compassion, framing a story that rides the fine line of tragedy and comedy, laughter and loss.

The cast features Rebecca George and Kevin T. Bennett. George has performed with Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre, Hyperion Theatre Company, Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Vermont Stage Company, Clarence Brown Theatre Company and most recently in Perseverance Theatre's production of Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England. George has directed for Opera Fairbanks, Hyperion Theatre Company, The Winter Bear Project and Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre. She has taught acting at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks and will be directing Theatre UAF's 2016 spring production. Originally from Alaska, Kevin T. Bennett has over 34 years of performance experience and has worked in over 100 productions. At Perseverance, he has played a variety of roles, including Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol and George in Of Mice and Men. He has served as President, Secretary, and Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Anchorage Community Theatre. Also an avid screen actor, Bennett adapted, directed, and co-starred in the 2014 dark comedy, Six Dead Bodies Duct-Taped to a Merry-Go-Round, which premiered at the Anchorage International Film Festival.

Art Rotch has worked in Alaska theatre for 25 years, and is in his eighth season as Artistic Director at Perseverance Theatre. Rotch has designed a number of shows in cities in the lower 48, including New York City. He has also designed over 50 productions at Perseverance, the latest being In the Next Room, or the vibrator play. His directing credits with Perseverance Theatre include Of Mice and Men, An Iliad and I Am My Own Wife.

Sharr White, a graduate of American Conservatory Theatre, has written plays that have been produced on and off-Broadway. Annapurna premiered at the Magic Theatre in San Francisco, California in 2011. Since then, his plays The Other Place and The Snow Geese have premiered on Broadway. His newest play, Stupid Kid, is a commission for Steppenwolf Theatre Company. In addition to being a playwright, White is a father of two boys. He lives in New York.

The creative team includes set designer Art Rotch, costume designer Colleen Metzger, lighting designer Lauren Miller, and sound designer Lucy Peckham.
