Newly promoted movie exec Bobby Gould and his long-time colleague, Charlie Fox, celebrate certain success with a guaranteed moneymaker script. Meanwhile, the head of the studio has ordered Gould to give a "courtesy read" to an artsy book about the end of the world, then reject it. Acting on a bet to bed the temp, Karen, Gould has her read and report on the book. By the end of their night together, Karen has convinced Gould to reject Fox's script and to make a film from the book. Can there be a Hollywood happy ending to this triangle of loyalty and love?
