Our production of Much Ado About Nothing at the New Mexico Shakespeare Festival, directed by Zoe Burke, reimagines Shakespeare’s beloved comedy in late 1940s Albuquerque. Set against the rich cultural tapestry of the Southwest, this production embraces the era’s post-war optimism, adobe courtyards, and deep-rooted traditions. Beatrice and Benedick’s fiery wit ignites under the desert sky, while Hero and Claudio’s love is tested by deception and honor. Opening June 6th and running through July 6th, Much Ado About Nothing will be performed in repertory with Othello, alternating weekends at Veterans Memorial Park (1100 Louisiana Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM). In addition, special performances will be held on Thursday, June 12th, and Thursday, June 26th, at Winrock Town Center. All performances start at 7:30 pm. Experience Shakespeare’s timeless wit and romance set against the breathtaking backdrop of New Mexico. Bring a blanket, pack a picnic, and enjoy a magical evening of professional Shakespeare—completely free of charge!
