This Obie Award-winning play is a darkly comic exploration of one American family in their struggle to retain home ownership against outside influences that seem to be scheming against them. As the four family members each shift into adolescence, adulthood or old age, they strive for mutual understanding. And they make a mess. Covered in mud, covered in mounds of laundry, covered in the broken pieces of the broken door that someone’s always trying to fix—their kitchen is the center of their universe, so much so that even one of their sheep who’s taken ill gets to spend the night right in the middle of it. They clamber as we all do, awkwardly, defiantly, towards hope and some semblance of familial love.
