The Five Irish Tenors Sterling Vocalists on First North American Tour

The Five Irish Tenors make a much-anticipated stop at the Spencer Theater on Saturday, February 25 at 7 p.m. for a concert packed with their grand vocal tradition of lyricism, dramatic flair, boisterous charm and operatic style. Accompanied by two grand pianos, the multi-award winning tenors will be singing a program packed with Irish classics like "Down By The Sally Gardens," "My Wild Irish Rose," "Green Green Grass of Home," and "Danny Boy," as well as American folk rock favorites like "The Piano Man" and "Bridge Over Troubled Waters."
Patrons can expect the beautiful blending of vocals to be deeply enriched by each of The Five Irish Tenors has a different vocal timbre and range: David Martin's voice is a warm, graceful & bright "lyric Bel Canto" that can be heard above orchestrations; Aaron Cawley is a bright, but heavier weight "spinto" tenor that can be pushed to dramatic climaxes; Ciaran Kelly maintains that perfect intonation and phrasing "Mozart" in his tenor; George Hutton has a high "traditional" range and Alan Leech is expressive in an actorly way, therefore shines as a "buffo" tenor for distinct characters within a piece. Together they soar! Individually, they've won such honors as the John McCormack and Luciano Pavarotti Awards, the London Critics Choice Award, and performances at some of Europe's most grand performance halls and cathedrals.

Spencer Theater is a world-class performance hall located in the Sacramento Mountain settlement of Alto, about 12 miles north of downtown Ruidoso. Unique architecture, outstanding acoustics, intimate seating, and excellent artistry are the Spencer's celebrated features. The elegant, award-winning hall, which first raised its curtains in 1997, seats 514, with no seats farther than 67 feet from the 4,770 square-foot stage. The Spencer also has a 964 square-foot outdoor stage that can seat 1,500. From its Spanish mica-flecked limestone face to the crystal lobby, the building itself is a work of art.
