The Adobe Rose Theatre, a 501(c)3 non profit corporation in Santa Fe, has announced a grass roots fundraising campaign to achieve its mandate and to keep the lamps burning and the doors open to the community.
The theatre produces plays, provides subsidized performance space to the more than twenty Santa Fe theatre companies in
town, including Theater Grottesco, Just Say It Productions, and the International
Shakespeare Center, and offers subsidized and free space for community and
educational events (including the National Endowment for the Arts, St. Michael's High
School, and the Upstart Crows).
This week alone, the Adobe Rose is presenting its annual holiday musical romp, "The Ultimate Christmas Show", managing a toy drive for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Santa Fe, and donating the stage so that newly written plays by the students from Mandela International Magnet School can be performed for their families. Last year the theatre welcomed over 10,000 visits. They are proud to be a part of the burgeoning renaissance of theatre in Santa Fe over the last three years, attracting such playwriting luminaries as Robert Schenkkan (Tony Award; Pulitzer Prize), and performing stars such as Ann Randolph and others to the Rose.
In order to meet the increased demands of the community, however, the theatre needs to hire a full time theatre manager and technical director. Founders Bruce and Maureen McKenna will continue to financially support the theatre and provide their pro bono services to ensure that Santa Fe has a high quality space for theatrical performances.
