Spencer Theater Sets 2015 Summer Season

Spencer Theater Summer Season 2015: There's something for everyone in the 18-event line-up, all staged with superior lighting and grand acoustics at the award-winning performance hall in Alto, NM. Pre-performance lobby buffets are offered ($20) before most every show, enabling patrons to easily enjoy a scrumptious hot meal with bar drinks before curtain time.

On stage at the Spencer late May through early September, 2015:

• "Sing It From The Mountain Top - A Night of Gospel Music Saturday, May 23 at 8 p.m. ($50-$39) This three part concert features headliner Susie McEntire, an Inspirational Country star; the old-time Gospel music of Jack & Deb Stone & The Top Shelf Band and southern, traditional Gospel musician Jimmy Burson's Texas in the Swing Band. Sponsored in-part by Bruce & Lynn Morgan and friends. Pre-show bacon-wrapped pork loin steaks in lobby ($20).

• Spencer Benefit Golf Tournament at Inn of the Mountain Gods - with celebrity guest player Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel, Thursday, May 28 at 8 a.m. (registration at 7 a.m.). ($125)). Proceeds benefit the Spencer's children's programming. This shotgun scramble includes breakfast and post-tournament awards luncheon and prizes.

• Asleep at the Wheel starring Ray Benson, Friday, May 29 at 8 p.m. ($60-$39). With multiple horns and strings, this legendary western swing band has won 9 Grammy awards over the past 45 years. Pre-show catfish buffet in lobby ($20) at 6 p.m.

• "Always...Patsy Cline" - Roswell Community Little Theatre, Saturday, June 6 at 8 p.m. ($45-$29). A captivating musical play about a deep friendship and personal correspondence between the country star (who tragically died at age 30) and a fan she initially met at a Texas honky-tonk in 1961. The play features a live band and 27 of Patsy's greatest hits. Sponsored in-part by Rainmakers Golf Course & Community. Pre-show crispy fried chicken buffet in lobby ($20) at 6 p.m.

• Dali' Ballet Company's "Momentary Lapse of Reason" - Friday, June 12 at 7 p.m. & Saturday, June 13 at 2 p.m. & 7 p.m. ($35) Original contemporary dance spectacular featuring the music and lighting of Pink Floyd's progressive rock masterpiece. Proceeds benefit the Dali' Ballet Company.

• "Taste of the Spencer" Fundraiser - Saturday, June 20 at 6 p.m. ($60). A robust evening of scrumptious hors d'eouvres, generous pours of wine and the live & silent auction of art, trips, antiques, jewelry, golf and fishing packages, fine clothing, celebrity memorabilia and more. Fun, fun, fun. "Taste of the Spencer" is the not-for-profit theater's most critical annual fundraiser, proceeds from which are used for facility operations and programming. • Jambalaya Jass - New Orleans Jazz with Tulsa-based band. Saturday, June 27 at 8 p.m. ($55-$39). Fun-lovin', hard-playin' boot-scootin' band steeped in the spirit of southern jazz: When The Saints Go Marching In," "Bye, Bye Blackbird," "Sweet Georgia Brown," This Little Light of Mine," "St. Louis Blues." Pre-show Gumbo Party, both levels of lobby ($25) at 6 p.m.

• Recycled Percussion - Friday, July 3 at 8 p.m. ($60-$39). Four innovative musicians who make amazing rock rhythms with non-stop energy and action on everyday household "junk." Pre-show boneless beef short ribs buffet in lobby ($20) at 6 p.m.

• Missoula Children's Theatre's "Rapunzel" - Friday, July 10 at 7 p.m. ($10 for children, $18 adults). Approximately 50 children, ages 6-17, will be needed for the fun-filled musical's various parts. Auditions set for Monday, July 6 at 9 a.m. Be early. No experience necessary. Weeklong theatre workshop is free. For information, call 575.336.4800. Sponsored by Ruidoso Ford.

• Evening in the Round - Tuesday, July 14 at 8 p.m. ($50-$39). three of Nashville's most revered songwriters, Linda Davis, Lang Scott and Bill Whyte, share their music and tales from the backside of song creation. Pre-show chipolte glazed turkery buffet ($20) at 6 p.m.

• Johnny Rivers - Saturday, July 18 at 8 p.m. ($99-$39). With more than 30 million records sold and a slew of top Billboard hits like "Secret Agent Man," "Baby I Need Your Lovin'," "The Midnight Special," this soulful rocker with sharp vocals is a favorite. Pre-show grilled pork rib eye buffet ($20) at 6 p.m.

• Daly & Vincent - Sunday, July 26 at 8 p.m. ($55-$39). These bluegrass music stars have voices that blend like magic in tunes that have won them scores of awards and fans across the country. They're joined by their four man band in a night of cutting-edge bluegrass, gospel & country. Sponsored in part-by Fusion Medical Spal Pre-show baked chicken buffet ($20) at 6 p.m.

• Spencer Speakeasy Party: A Roaring '20s Dinner & Dance - Saturday, August 1 at 6 p.m. ($110). Costumes are optional at the Flapper party, but dressing a la mode of "The Great Gatsby" era will make for a whole lot of fun! Enjoy a scrumptious steak and lobster dinner, speakeasy martinis and dance the night away to the grand jazz of The Capones, a big band with sultry female vocals. The festive party will be on the magnificent Spencer stage.

Chubby Checker & The Wildcats - Saturday, August 8 at 8 p.m. ($85-$39). The Grammy-winning vocalist, songwriter, rocker and arranger behind "The Twist," shares his high-energy sound and spirit in concert. Sponsored by Sandy Erwin, Kay Bird and Linda & Michael Stinson. Beef & shrimp kebabs buffet ($20) at 6 p.m.

• Sandy Hackett's "Rat Pack Show" - Friday August 14 at 8 p.m. ($75-$39). The legendary pack of superstars - Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. & Joey Bishop - come back to earth with saucy attitude and flawless musical vigor in a revue starring Sandy Hackett (son of Buddy Hackett), with infectious energy and sass. Pre-show Italian meatballs & fettucine alfredo buffet ($20) at 6 p.m.

Robert Michaels - "Viva Italia" - Saturday, August 22 at 8 p.m. ($55-$39). Fast-finger guitar sensation performs high power, Juno-award winning artistry in flamenco styled, traditional Italian tunes with traditional flamenco dancing and his band (including accordion). Pre-concert masters class at 5 p.m. for guitarists of all levels. The hands-on class will be limited to the first 50 to sign up; attendees must be performance ticket holders. Pre-show tilapia buffet ($20) at 6 p.m.

Diamond Rio, country-rock-bluegrass - Thursday, August 27 & Friday, August 28 at 8 p.m. ($75-$39). Grammy-winning band shares its infectious blend of hook and harmony in their classics like "Meet in the Middle," "Norma Jean Riley" and "Love A Little Stronger." Sponsored by the R.D. & Joan Dale Hubbard Foundation.

Evolution - A Tribute to Journey, Saturday, September 5 at 8 p.m. ($60-$39). Spot-on tribute band (with personal links to band originals) share Journey's awesome hits like "Wheel In The Sky," "Any Way You Want It," "Open Arms" and "Don't Stop Believin'." Pre-show BBQ chicken lobby buffet ($20) at 6 p.m.
