ABQ Stages will be holding auditions for their newest children's show How I Became a Pirate on April 1, 2011. Directed and Choreographed by Wendy Barker and Kari Reese, the show will run May 6 - 15, 2011 at the VSA North 4th Arts Center. Auditions will be held at Covenant Presbyterian at 9315 Candelaria, west of Eubank.

"This wonderful children's musical is based on the award-winning children's book by Melinda Long, in which Jeremy Jacobs is recruited to help bury the treasure. At first he enjoys the pirate life, but soon realizes that he misses the treasures of home.  It has 11 songs and lots of physicality, including swashbuckling, soccor, storms at sea and more. We are also planning to include pre-show fun, including pirates roaming the audience, costume parades for kids and more."

Those wishing to audition are asked to prepare a song no longer than one minute and to bring sheet music. Appointments can be made by calling 505-515-9149. For more information, visit the official website.
