The hills are alive with a brand-new production of "The Sound of Music" at the Spencer Theater, where the famed touring Broadway production team Of NETworks Productions recreates, with a cast of 30 professional singers, dancers, actors (aged 6-60) and orchestra musicians, the adventurous musical story of Maria and the von Trapp Family in pre-World War II Austria.
This musical drama sparkles with the Tony®, Grammy® and Academy Award® winning Best Score, including "My Favorite Things," "Do-Re-Mi," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "Edelweiss" and the title song, "The Sound of Music." Vibrant sets and costumes fill each scene as the beloved cast of characters - the governess Maria, the widowed Captain von Trapp, his seven rambunctious young children, the Mother Abbess and convent nuns share the action- as do the threating Nazi loyalists and lackeys - in this must-see production designed for patrons of all ages.
"The Sound of Music" features music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, as suggested by the story of "The Trapp Family Singers" by Maria Augusta Trapp.
Declared as "sparkling, fresh and lively" by Los Angeles Times, "The Sound of Music" thoroughly shines with its talented cast and beautiful songs that bring the characters together to heal and find joy, and encourage audiences to share the tremendous happiness that is live theatre.
