"Life x 3" by Yazmina Reza and directed by No Strings Theatre Company's Artistic Director opens Friday, November 20 and runs through Sunday, December 6. This clever and humorous play contrasts 2 couples' inability to deal with trivial domestic mishaps with their ability to explore the outermost reaches of the universe. At the start of the play, Henry and Sonia are having a not-so-quiet evening at home. Henry, a young scientist, working a paper on the shape of halos which he has been trying to complete for three years, is distracted with his six year old son's continual crying and pleading to be eating treats like cookies and apples in bed. His wife, Sonia, completely against children eating after teeth have been brushed, is trying to focus on completing the work from her office which she has taken home.
The sudden and catastrophic appearance of Hubert and Inez, dinner guests, arriving a day earlier than invited, sets up a major problem for Henry and Sonia who are completely unprepared for company and have only snack food in the house. Henry's evening is further complicated when Hubert reveals that a similar paper on halos has been submitted for publication by a Mexican team, thus ruining his chances for promotion. The play effectively and comically shows three different versions of how people act under stress when multiple sides of their personalities come out. The production stars Jason Godin and Indrani Rauth as Henry and Sonia, and P.J. Waggaman and Kathi-Jane as Hubert and Inez. Light and Scenic Design is by Peter Herman and Costume Design is by Cortney Newtson. Assistant Director for the production is Rorie Measure, Shaun Hadfield is the Stage Manager and Don McCoy is the Sound Engineer.
There will be a Reception following the opening night performance. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sunday matinees on November 29 and December 6 at 2:30 p.m. and a Thursday performance on December 3 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 regular, $9.00 students and seniors over 65 and all seats on Thursday are $7.00.
