Teatro Paraguas will be hosting a workshop for playwrights on Saturday, September 22 from 10:00 through 1:30, facilitated by professional playwright Mark Dunn. Lunch will be included in the workshop fee of $15. The workshop will explore the mechanics of telling stories through the medium of theater. It will focus on both the basic tools of play construction, as well as offer advanced tips and tricks of the trade to help the playwright write theater pieces that connect with and engage audiences.
Mark Dunn is a thirty-year veteran playwright. He has written over thirty full-length plays, half of which have been published and are being professionally licensed by Samuel French and other publishers. Dunn's four most popular plays, BELLES, FIVE TELLERS DANCING IN THE RAIN, A DELIGHTFUL QUARANTINE and CABIN FEVER: A TEXAS TRAGICOMEDY have together received over 300 productions throughout the world. His latest southern female comedy THE GLITTER GIRLS will be published by Samuel French later this year and is already receiving productions around the U.S. and Canada. Mark is also author of several books, including the award-winning novel ELLA MINNOW PEA.
This project is made possible in part by New Mexico Arts, a division of the Dept. of Cultural Affairs,
The Santa Fe Arts Commission and the 1% Lodgers' Tax, and the Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry.
