NMSU Theatre Arts Aims For Broadway With New Revue  Image

The NMSU Theatre Arts Department and the nonprofit American Southwest Theatre Company presents Broadway Onstage, a musical revue highlighting shows currently running on Broadway along with traditional Broadway favorites performed by NMSU students and faculty and community members.

Broadway Onstage premieres at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 9 on the main stage at the ASNMSU Center for the Arts, 1000 E. University Ave. A reception following the 90-minute show will take place in the second-floor rehearsal hall immediately after the performance.

Tickets for orchestra and mezzanine seat are $20; balcony tickets are $15. Proceeds will benefit NMSU theatre arts students.

Sponsorships are also available for the evening's performers, songs, shows, and others. Here are the sponsorship levels: $250 for musician Mark Klett; $200 for director Christa Frederickson or host Wil Kilroy; $125 for musician Michael Trujillo; and $125 each for any of the shows, songs and/or performers featured in the program.

• "As If We Never Said Goodbye" from "Sunset Boulevard," sung by NMSU student Melis Derya White

• "Being Alive" from "Company," NMSU student Calvin Chervinko

• "Bosom Buddies" from "Mame," NMSU student ensemble with special mystery guests;

• "Defying Gravity" from "Wicked," NMSU student Francesca Pérez-Wright and NMSU musical theatre instructor Christa Frederickson;

• "Do You Hear the People Sing?" from "Les Miserables," NMSU student ensemble,
directed by Theatre Arts Department vocal instructor Della Bustamante

• "Footloose" from "Footloose," NMSU student ensemble and community members;

• "Holding Out for Hero" from "Footloose," NMSU student ensemble; • "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Miserables," Della Bustamante;

• Jersey Boys Medley from "Jersey Boys," Calvin Chervinko, Bryan Berard, Cheyenne Kimmick, Joel Fisk, Collin Duffey and Quinton Kriner;

• "Let Us Be Glad" from "Wicked," sung by NMSU musical theatre instructor Christa Fredrickson;

• "Loverly" from "My Fair Lady," NMSU student Jenna Ivey and other NMSU students and community members;

• "Maybe This Time" from "Cabaret," NMSU students;

• "One Short Day" from "Wicked," NMSU student ensemble and community members;

• "Run Freedom Run" from "Urinetown," NMSU student Joel Fisk and the NMSU student ensemble;

• "Screw Loose" from "Cry Baby," NMSU student Emilie Rasmussen;

• "Side By Side By Side" from "Company," NMSU student ensemble and community members;

• "Soul of a Man" from "Kinky Boots," Cheyenne Kimmick and the NMSU student ensemble;

• "Sweet Violets" from "Fritz Among Gypsies," community member Teddy Aspen-Sanchez and NMSU Theatre Arts Department staff member Susie Ouderkirk;

• "Transylvania Mania" from "Young Frankenstein," NMSU students and community members, choreographed by NMSU student Brianna Horvath

• "When I Grow Up" from "Matilda," Las Cruces young actors, the NMSU student ensemble and community members;

• "Wilkommen" from "Cabaret," Timothy W. J. Wilbur

• "You Can't Stop the Beat" from "Hairspray," community member Sammi Armstrong;

• "You Could Drive a Person Crazy" from "Company," by Brianna Horvath, Francesca Perez-Wright and Melis White.

Other performers will include Brandon Brown, Quinton Kriner, The Gandy Sisters and Carter Chamberlin.
