Te Amo, Argentina is an exotic audio-visual journey that draws audiences into the heart of Argentina and its fascinating, diverse culture. This multi-media performance features music from the Latin Grammy award-winning album "Antonio Lysy at the Broad - Music from Argentina" and one of the top tango couples in the world-Miriam Larici and Leonardo Barrionuevo (Gold Medal winners on NBC's "Superstars of Dance" and choreographers on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance"). From the Amerindian rhythms of the Andes Mountains to the city-street cafés of Buenos Aires, the combination of music and dance performances weaves together a pulsating and inspiring homage to Argentina.

Matt and Shannon Heaton
Thursday, October 10th
Los Griegos Library
1000 Griegos Rd, NW
12PM
Tickets: Free, but reservations are requested. For reservations, visit ampconcerts.org or call 505-232-9868
After years of study in Chicago, and many nights of music in Clare, Galway, and their adopted home of Boston, Irish Music Magazine's John O'Regan wrote of Matt and Shannon Heaton, "their duet playing is tight, sweet, and tasteful, lacking nothing on either technical expertise or instrumental virtuosity." The Heatons' music comes from a traditional aesthetic and a passion for reaching out to the modern world around them. They are devoted to Irish traditional music and uplift listeners by connecting with each other and the people around them.

Renowned for lightning-fast fingers and revolutionary playing techniques, Jake Shimabukuro views the ukulele as "an untapped source of music with unlimited potential." His virtuosity defies label or category. Playing jazz, blues, funk, classical, bluegrass, folk, flamenco, and rock, Jake's mission is to show everyone that the ukulele is capable of so much more than the traditional Hawaiian music-or corny showbiz routines-many associate it with.

Driving gypsy jazz rhythms, acoustic guitars, upright bass and violin lay the foundation for mesmerizing vocal harmonies and fantastic stories. It's theatrical and humorous. It's musical and intense. It entertains, dazzles and defies classification while welcoming the spectator to join the band throughout the performance in momentary fits of claps, snaps and sing-alongs. If Django Reinhardt, the cast of Stomp and the Beatles all had a party at Tim Burton's house, Caravan of Thieves would be the band they hired.

Kris Delmhorst is adventurous, refined, lucid, and haunting. Jeffrey Foucault's songs are tersely elegant, set apart by moody imagery and weather-beaten cool. Together, these singer-songwriters unite on stage for an evening of solos and duets. They've both carved out fine individual careers with over a dozen albums released between them. The evening will start with a live on-stage interview by Art of the Song hosts John Dillon and Vivian Nesbitt.

In their fifteen years together as a band, celebrated Los Angeles culture-mashers Ozomatli have gone from being hometown heroes to being named U.S. State Department Cultural Ambassadors. Their music-a notorious urban-Latino-and-beyond collision of hip hop and salsa, dancehall and cumbia, samba and funk, merengue and comparsa, East L.A. R&B and New Orleans second line, Jamaican ragga and Indian raga-has long followed a key mantra: it will take you around the world by taking you around L.A.

Gaelic Storm has earned a reputation as one of the world-music scene's preeminent Celtic bands. With catalog sales of more than 1 million, the group has now had three albums debut at #1 on the Billboard World Albums Chart, and the group's ability to deftly incorporate a rock sensibility into their sound affords them rare crossover appeal. But while many of their songs fit comfortably on contemporary radio, the band also has a knack for writing songs that sound as if they've been sung in Irish pubs for generations.
