Julesworks Follies 55th Edition Beatles Number 9 Salute Not Melodrama & Revisionist Real History Spoof Episode will be on Sunday Sep 23rd at 7:30PM at Le Jean Cocteau Cinema. Julesworks returns to a time slot we hope will work better for our beloved audience, as Santa Fe's longest running not quite monthly live variety show presenting Theatre, Music, Comedy, Stand Up Spoken Words, Dance! and much more.
The Julesworks Revisionist History Beatles #9 Salute Not Melodrama Edition will show an alternate take on the history of the beloved band and their role in modern culture and revolution...or perhaps it's the real history...only those present will know!!! With Diestler & Jules as our GrumpDucer characters (a bit of the Muppets Waldorf & Statler melded with Producer stereotypes) and several promoters and various performers, we hope, we will offer a take on the Beatles and their impact on history with other special guest characters including Millennial Not Melodrama Rose and Danette George ReRun Martin Sills and much more...
Having recently bid farewell, at least for a spell, to one of our recent longest running loyalist performers in Johnny Broomdust Widell, the core trope is refocusing and welcoming some new artists as well as welcoming back some previous ones to come together to share with Santa Fe audiences a showcase of an array of talent in Northern New Mexico. Jules, Chris Diestler, Danette Sills, Rose Provan, Ellchemi Ossorio, Christl McKenzie and Lexie & Yvette Michelle Martinez, with our youth outreach sensation GabeCat as well as Professor Ferg form the core crew to present the skits and more.
We are pleased to announce a new performer in beloved hard working talented dancer Caitlin Prince (a well respect belly dancer who does other performances and is also an instructor) who will be doing a dance number during our show, maybe to a Beatles tune or two.
Our other hopeful newcomer will be beloved musician and performer Les Malzman, who plays around town and beyond including a monthly gig at Duel Brewery. We hope to throw Les into the mix of our Julesworks Revisionist Beatles History. Also, Joe West has said he hopes to be in the show as well and other musicians may perform per their schedules.
We hope to have a mix every show of return loyalists, newbies, and people who perform occasionally as their lives permit. Other Loyalists who perform when possible include Greg Turner, Andy Kirkpatrick, Mark Westberg and more.
Also, we expect and hope for returns and newcomers for our Open Slot Slot in which other audience members can jump up at the end of the show to share a short performance piece. We also always attempt to stage other bits to involve the audience including: Improv sometimes and skits like Ask Professor Ferg and for this show we bring back Julesworks Revisionist History... Ask our Experts with Jules and anyone else! There will be a Julesworksers Literary Outburst by Chrsitl as well as the original Wacky Waitresss Song by Christl & Lexi. As usual, the talented Rose Provan will present an original skit she wrote in My Secret Friend starring Provan & Diestler. And, the Julesworksers will return to one of their on and off traditions of presenting their take on source material that has inspired their lives like Monty Python or in this case Some Information A Little Bit of Fry and Laurie Stolen by Julesworks with Diestler & Jules. And per tradition, the show will end with a musical finale by the ensemble with audience participation encouraged. Tickets remain $10 General Admission and just $7 for JW Members, including a ticket to the Julesworks Raffle or door prizes and available now at: www.jeancocteaucinema.com
Julesworks is also proud to say we get the chance to be one of the participants in the coming second annual Theatre Walk Santa Fe on Sat Sep 22 presented in the Rufina Siler Road Arts District by Theatre Santa Fe in which 20 some troupes and theater companies will participate. Julesworks will present a sort of microcosm of our Follies Variety Show at the Confetti Community Center next to Cacao Chocolate on Richards Lane. The entire event takes up several blocks in that neighborhood at various venues from 1:30pm to 6:30 pm and JW, as will all the groups, will present our piece about 4 times throughout the event.
All performers and artists, as well as anyone interested in helping behind the scenes, are encouraged to submit possible show ideas to Jules at: srubinfilms@gmail.com Julesworks will continue to stage their show roughly every six weeks so stay tuned for the announcement of the next date and theme.
