The final show of the year of Santa Fe's Monthly (Mostly) Variety Show, JULESWORKS FOLLIES #41 comes to the Jean Cocteau tonight, December 29 at 7 p.m.
For over 3 years, we have been showcasing an array of local talent and as our scope and ranks continue to evolve, we aim to present a unique and somewhat tightly themed show for you mixing short skits, music, poetry, real life letters and escapades, maybe even some dance and much more in a little holiday, or escape the holidays, theme.
The show will include a mix of some of the material we have been presenting, such as snippets from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy BBC Radio Play Version to Monty Python enthused skits, to original material such as the serialized experimental playlet Chatting with God, new skits with recurring characters, Improv, News Snippets and music and more.
Guided by a Host (or two or three), the evening will present a flowing (we hope) array of genres and wealth of talent including (in no order): our resident musician Gregg Turner (with his unique fun signature tunes), relative newcomer to Julesworks (making his second appearance) Johny Broomdust (playing his beloved music and in sketches and doing a short Stand-Up Storytelling bit) with cherished performer Michael Kott (for the first time!), and newcomers to the troupe in super talents Sarah Meadows, Greg Lopez, Lisa Jo Goldman, Ferg and Jessica Scarlett Harms and other surprises. Also new to the show doing solo acts are singer Stuart Caruthers and performer Melarie Roller.
Recurring loyalists include: Writer/Comic/Improver Greg Sonnenfeld, storyteller Patrick Chavez, Christine MacKenzie (who will read an original poem) and Lexie and more to be confirmed. Comedian James Peck returns with a short stand up set and to do some Julesworks News Flash Snippets with Jules.
We are crafting a special holiday tinged recurring sketch Ghosts of 86's, about someone who has led a wild, and perhaps hard, life involving his serial eviction from bars across town...in a Scroog'd Christmas Tale Fashion, ghost angles guide him on a tour of his live...Also, the Julesworkers will be presenting special Anti (Reverse) New Years Resolutions to appropriate people such as priests or rabbis, therapists, exes, bartenders, stylists, etc...
And much more...Including a full cast finale of Monty Python's Christmas in Heaven.
The final show of the year, will be on Dec 29th at 7 p.m. at at the Jean Cocteau. And per Julesworks tradition, Tone Forrest will return, with some seasonal recitations of literary greats and perhaps some charles and music. The Open Slot Slot will carry on to possibly allow a quick piece by interested audience members.
Tickets are $10 General Admission and just $7 for members, including a ticket to the Julesworks Raffle and available now at: www.jeancocteaucinema.com.
