With her sweetly arresting soprano and captivating stage presence, Lorrie Morgan is one of the biggest names on the country music scene, carving out a career that has garnered 15 Top 10 country hits, 14 studio albums, seven of which have gone gold and platinum, and four Female Vocalist of the Year awards. She is recognized as one of the greatest female singers of the past 20 years, and with a romantic life that's included country stars Sammy Kershaw and Keith Whitley, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman and actor/politician FrEd Thompson, she's been a high-profile media personality as well.
Lorrie was barely a teenager when she made her first major appearance in 1975 singing "Paper Roses" with her dad, country star George Morgan on the Grand Ole Opry. In 1984, she became the youngest person in history to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and in the 90s, after scoring a string of major country hits, she built a reputation as an artist who knows a great song when she hears one and distinguishes how to deliver it in memorable fashion.
Her trophy room is adorned with reminders of milestones, above all for her hit recordings "Five Minutes,"" Something in Red," "Watch Me"and "What Part of No," and for duets with Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, George Jones and Sammy Kershaw.
Morgan's latest offering, Letting Go... Slow is Lorrie's first pure country album in six years, showcasing a rainbow of emotions from profound heartache to shiny humor. It reunites her with producer Richard Landis who produced some of her biggest hits. The album includes beautiful versions of such songs as "I've Done Enough Dying For Today," "Ode To Billie Joe" (which has never been covered by a country artist) and "Lay Lady Lay," as well as new compositions such as the playful ditty "Jesus and Hairspray" and the barroom weeper "Lonely Whiskey."
