Duke City Repertory Theatre presents The Drowning Girls, directed by Dr. John Hardy and written by Beth Graham, Charlie Tomlinson, and Daniela Vlaskalic. Company members Amelia Ampuero, Katie Becker Colón, and Lauren Myers bring to life 20 characters, including the three "Brides of the Bathtub." The production runs October 2 - October 12, 2014 at The Cell Theatre, 700 1st. Street NW.

Bessie, Alice, and Margaret have two things in common: they are all married to George Joseph Smith, and they are dead. Emerging from the bathtubs in which they were murdered, the women conduct their own postmortem investigation - what led them to their watery graves and who is to blame? The Drowning Girls is a lively, surprising and poetically stunning piece that promises to take your breath away.

Winner of Best New Play at the 2010 Alberta Literary Awards, The Drowning Girls director John Hardy (These Shining Lives, A Midsummer Night's Dream) returns after his critically acclaimed production of These Shining Lives with Duke City Rep this past Spring. Voted Albuquerque's "Best Theatre Troupe" for three years in a row (Albuquerque the Magazine), DCRT opens their fifth season with an unforgettable experience for Albuquerque audiences.

"The Drowning Girls promises to be one of the most visceral, imaginative, and captivating stories of the year," says Artistic Director Amelia Ampuero.
