These five stellar vocalists (who've also appeared on "Americas Got Talent") and their rollicking five-man band on horns and keys promise a night of unparalleled authenticity as they recreate - and at times re-imagine - some of the greatest music in American pop and music history.
The Doo Wop Project is a musically rich show taking us on a journey from foundational Doo Wop tunes by the Crests, Belmonts and Flamingos to the sounds of Smokey Robinson, the Temptations, and the Four Seasons all the way to contemporary hits by Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz and Amy Winehouse. "We 'Doo-wopify' it all," says band members Sonny Paladino and Dominic Nolfi, who helped design the band's amazing arrangements of such uplifting melodies as Winehouse's "Valerie," Mraz's "I'm Yours," and Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel" into a new kind of jukebox musical sound with multi-generational appeal. And these heart stirring arrangements blend beautifully with their classic Doo Wop treatment of tunes like "Remember then "Tracks Of My Tears," "Pretty Little Angel," "I Wonder Why," "Girls Don't Cry," "I Only Have Eyes For You," "Oh What A Night," "Gloria," and so much more. The group's five-part alto, tenor, bass & baritone harmonies cast every song into a mesmerizing, foot-tapping, finger-clicking, feel-good spell, lifting spirits far beyond the here and now.
