D'Amassa to Offer Advanced Acting Classes at Black Box Theatre 2/04-3/10

Actor and teacher Algernon D'Ammassa returns to the Black Box Theatre Annex in February with two 6 week workshops in stage acting for beginners and experienced actors. The classes start on Saturday, February 4 and run every Saturday through March 10.

"Introduction to Acting" covers the basics of stage acting for beginners, anyone looking to establish a foundation in stage techniques, or camera-trained actors wishing to train for the stage. Students will learn how voice, body, and imagination are used in acting, learn concentration techniques and participate in a scene. This class will meet on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m.

"Scene Workshop: American Playwrights" is a workshop for actors with previous experience, reviewing, and expanding on techniques of voice, movement, scene analysis, and performance technique. Students are assigned scenes to rehearse outside of class and perform in a scene showcase. This class will meet on Saturdays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

An actor since early childhood, D'Ammassa is an alumnus of the Trinity Repertory in Rhode Island, and has taught theatre for children and adults for twenty years. With NSTC he has appeared in "Private Fears in Public Places," "The 39 Steps," and "Crime and Punishment."
