This delightful retelling of A Christmas Carol, a favorite holiday classic about the transformation from greed to generosity, embraces the true holiday spirit of kindness and goodwill. The script, adapted by Becky Mayo who also directs the production, retains the charm and mystery of the original story and also Dickens' familiar language. In the past, the Adobe was renowned for its December radio shows, and this tradition continues in a holiday production suitable for all ages.
A radio station is broadcasting Charles Dickens' beloved Christmas story, "A Christmas Carol" live, before a studio audience. The Adobe audience will watch the actors at the microphones, scripts in hand, create characters (sometimes more than one character) as they take the audience to 19th Century London to meet Marley's Ghost, Scrooge, and Tiny Tim. Music and sound effects happen live onstage with assistance from the "studio" audience.
Cast members include a mix of Adobe veterans (Virginia Dare Chavez, Brian Hansen, Alan Hudson, Frank Melcouri, Ray Orley, Rick Wiles, Linda Williams and Hugh Witemeyer) and newcomers (Soraya Baraque, Erica Entrop, Tom Pentecost, J. R. Ramoso, Athena Swartz and Michelle Varela).
"CHRISTMAS CLASSICS RADIO THEATER Presents Charles Dickens' "A CHRISTMAS CAROL" opens at The Adobe Theater on Friday, November 30 and plays Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 2 PM through December 16, 2012. Tickets are $15, seniors and students $13. Group Sales and SelecTickets available.
