The American Southwest Theatre Company at New Mexico State University Theatre Arts recently announced their 2010 - 2011 season, including THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, A CHRISTMAS CAROL, AN INSPECTOR CALLS, and a number of new works.

The season will open with William Shakespeare's laugh-out-loud farce, THE COMEDY OF ERRORS. Focusing on the confusions that ensue when two sets of identical twins end up in the same town, Shakespeare's classic comedy has been making audiences laugh for more than four hundred years. THE COMEDY OF ERRORS premieres on 24 September and runs through 10 October.

A special one weekend presentation of a brand new play will be featured on 15 - 16 October. The High Desert New Play Program returns to the Hershel Zohn stage and asks audiences to help develop and select a play for full production in the spring.

Next up is a revival of the holiday classic, A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Tom Smith's perennially popular adaptation of the Charles Dickens favorite returns Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, the Fezziwigs, and more to the Las Cruces stage. A CHRISTMAS CAROL will run 19 November to 5 December.

The second half of the season will open with a brand new work developed in part by students and faculty as part of NMSU's High Desert New Play Program. From 18 February to 6 March, local audiences can be a part of the premiere production of a brand new work.

The final production of the season is the stylish thriller, JB Priestly's AN INSPECTOR CALLS. The play takes a look at an evening in the life of the Birling family, busily enjoying a party when they are accused of playing a part in the death of a young girl.
