Alex Fox to Play Fast-Finger Guitar at Spencer This Spring

Alto, NM -- Guitar virtuoso Alex Fox, a native of Argentina, is hailed as "one of the finest, most respected guitarists/composers of our time" and has wowed audiences around the world with his radiant compositions and showmanship. Appearing with his fellow guitarists (and sons) Sebastian and David, and a band of bass and percussion, Fox brings his sizzling program of classical rumba and flamenco rhythms with a Mediterranean flair to the Spencer stage on Saturday, April 9 at 7 p.m.

Fox will also be giving a hands-on pre-show Masters Class to guitarists of all levels. Participants must be concert ticket holders. The one-hour class, held at 4:30 p.m. at the Spencer, is limited to the first 50 to sign up. Call the box office for information.

Fox has been a resident of Miami since 1984 where, after intensive studies in his native Argentina, he wowed Miami's Art Deco District with his radiant compositions and showmanship. He quickly became a successful recording artist and has toured the world in performances for such dignitaries as former U.S. President Bill Clinton, the presidents of Lebanon and Turkey, Prince Rainier of Monaco, the queen of Spain, and the Italian designer Versace, among others. His career highlights include opening for Tito Puente at the Istanbul Amphitheatre and for The Eagles in Miami, and he was honored to be the featured artist at the Bacardi Jazz Festival in Beirut on behalf of the Kennedy Center. The esteemed also had the privilege of recording with Julio Iglesias.

Spencer Theater is a world-class performance hall located in the Sacramento Mountain settlement of Alto, about 12 miles north of downtown Ruidoso. Unique architecture, outstanding acoustics, intimate seating, and excellent artistry are the Spencer's celebrated features. The elegant, award-winning hall, which first raised its curtains in 1997, seats 514, with no seats farther than 67 feet from the 4,770 square-foot stage. The Spencer also has a 964 square-foot outdoor stage that can seat 1,500. From its Spanish mica-flecked limestone face to the crystal lobby, the building itself is a work of art.
