Albuquerque Theatre Guild today announced the six winners of its 2012-13 Youth Theatre Scholarships. This program helps children and youth learn about live theatre by providing scholarships for them to participate in extra-curricular theatre-education programs offered by Albuquerque Theatre Guild member organizations. Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry will present the awards to the six recipients at a press conference to be scheduled in June.

“This program is one of our favorites at the Albuquerque Theatre Guild. Young people are the future of acting, stage craft and audiences in Albuquerque, and we’re delighted to provide the opportunity to for them to learn more about the art and craft of live theatre,” says Ray Orley, President of the Albuquerque Theatre Guild. “We’re pleased to be able to support them with our fourth year of scholarships.”

Each scholarship is valued at $100 and must be used between June 1, 2012 and May 31, 2013. Current or prior enrollment in theatre-education programs is not required.
