Albuquerque Theatre Guild Announces Their February Calendar

The Ballad of Sucio's Frog - from a story by James Wood. Sucio Calzon, a viejo campesino eager to save his famous crop from thieves, creates Big Science...but sometimes Big Science is just too BIG! This hilarious, heartfelt, and original New Mexico tale also features a mad scientist, a brainiac, a whacky businessman, several beautiful women, and a giant frog among the crazy characters of the town of Punta de Lanza. February 5 - February 7th | Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. - Sundays at 2 p.m. William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night - Shakespeare's most charming play focuses on the many meanings of love. The sub-plots, which include the timeless comedic characters of the fool and the drunkard, focus on a cunning plan to humiliate a pompous Puritan and on Viola's lost twin arriving to join in the romance. The play culminates in music, weddings and happy endings (for almost everyone!)

Dial ‘M' For Murder - By Frederick Knott, Tony Wendice has married his wife, Margot, for her money and now plans to murder her for the same reason. He arranges the perfect murder. He blackmails a scoundrel he used to know into strangling her for a fee of one thousand pounds, and arranges a brilliant alibi for himself. Mother Road Theatre Company's 2010 Prebut - based on the theme "LOVE & MADNESS." Mother Road has chosen, The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh and, Moby Dick adapted by Julian Rad from the book by Herman Melville with Hilary Adams, to be produced in the 2010 season. Scenes from both will be showcased at the PREBUT. Scenes from a "secret" list chosen by company members will also be presented and the audience will vote on their favorite. ZooZoo- Imago Theatre will ignite the imagination with its lively revue of illusion, comedy and fun. A delightfully whimsical, terrifically silly and incredibly funny performance for the whole family. The ingenious masks, mesmerizing movement, outlandish costumes, and original music score create a
fun carnival of the absurd sure to enrapture those of all ages. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle (who is not sure whether or not she is still married), the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town's rich curmudgeon, Ouiser, ("I'm not crazy, I've just been in a bad mood for forty years"); an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader, M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby (the prettiest girl in town), is about to marry a "good ole boy." Plaza Suite - by Neil Simon, Hilarity abounds in this portrait of three couples successively occupying a suite at the Plaza. A suburban couple take the suite while their house is being painted and it turns out to be the one in which they honeymooned 23 (or was it 24?) years before and was yesterday the anniversary, or is it today? This wry tale of marriage in tatters is followed by the exploits of a Hollywood producer who, after three marriages, is looking for fresh fields. He calls a childhood sweetheart, now a suburban housewife, for a little sexual diversion. Over the years she has idolized him from afar and is now more than the match he bargained for. The last couple is a mother and father fighting about the best way to get their daughter out of the bathroom and down to the ballroom where guests await her or as mamma yells, "I want you to come out of that bathroom and get married!"
