There's no summer slowdown at the Albuquerque Theatre Guild – new board members and officers have been elected. Planning is underway for a late fall Free Night of Theatre program. A Taste of Theatre resumes, and the Theatre Lovers Community welcomes devoted audiences to special happenings.

The ATG proudly welcomes four new members to its Board of Directors. Donna Marie Barra, Regina Bell-Dawley, Micah McCoy, and Denise Schulz were elected to two-year terms. In addition, Linda Lopez McAlister was re-elected to a one-year term, and former board member Valerie Scott was appointed to fill a vacant one-year term. Officers for 2012-13 are Hugh Witemeyer (President), Linda Lopez McAlister (Vice-President), Ninette S. Mordaunt (Secretary), and Denise Schulz (Treasurer).

In addition, "A Taste of Theatre" resumes presentations every Tuesday in August at St. Clair Winery and Bistro. Local theater companies showcase upcoming shows at 6 p.m. for diners, friends and family and enjoy good food and wine at reasonable prices.

In October and November, ATG debuts its Free Night of Theatre Program, modelled after successful audience building initiatives in cities like Los Angeles and Chicago. Look for more information on this program soon.

Theatre Lovers Community (TLC), has two events planned for July. On Wednesday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m., John Andrews and David Richard Jones discussed Shakespeare from an audience point of view, including understanding his language and how to better enjoy performances of the Bard. On Sunday, July 22, Camino Real Productions and the National Hispanic Cultural Center proudly present a full afternoon to learn about the story, its background and enjoy the world premiere of "Paloma."
