Bob Hope's beloved USO tours entertaining troops abroad during the harrowing WWII days of 1942 brought laughter and hope to the young soldiers fighting fascism and liberating people the world over. Performing in military camps & war zones, his variety shows featuring song, dance, comedy, and light-hearted news warmed anxious, sentimental spirits with a hands-on reminder that Americans loved and supported them.

"Believe me when I say that laughter up at the front lines is a very precious thing-precious to those grand guys who are giving and taking the awful business that goes on there" Hope said during a WWII tour, adding "There's a lump the size of Grant's Tomb in your throat when they come up to you and shake your hand and mumble "Thanks." Imagine those guys thanking me! Look what they're doin' for me. And for you."-Bob Hope.

ALL HANDS ON DECK! at the Spencer on Saturday, July 8 at 8 p.m. is a dynamic song, dance and comedy tribute based on Hope's 1942 USO tour. The high-spirited revue features a 9-piece orchestra and four charismatic vocalists singing beautifully arranged close-cropped harmonies, stylish choreography and vintage costuming. Look forward to a night of the very Hope-styled comedy and a parade of big band tunes like "Chattanooga Choo-Choo," "I'm In The Mood For Love," "Pennsylvania Polka," "Atchison Topeka And The Santa Fe," "I'll Never Smile Again," "Don't Fence Me In," "America The Beautiful," "Deep In The Heart Of Texas," and "Thanks For The Memory."

Audiences delight and unite with this heart-warming, toe-tapping musical message! Come, celebrate the timeless art that lifted spirits, fueled patriotism for troops in 1942, and still inspires our forces of today! ALL HANDS ON DECK! at the Spencer is sponsored in-part by First National Bank. Tickets start at just $39. Call 575.336.4800 or go online to www.spencertheater.com for tickets and information.
