WOMENSWORX at THE VORTEX
A national festival of 10 minute plays written & directed by women from around the country.

Tricklock Company’s Revolutions InterNational Theatre Festival 2010 - Theatre artists from all over the world will step off of planes onto New Mexico soil and fill the community with three weeks of dynamic, exhilarating theatre. Twelfth Night, Shakespeare's most charming comedy. Centered on his classic plot of separated twins and women disguised as men, it introduces us to Viola. Shipwrecked and separated from her brother she makes her way, dressed as a boy, in the service of Duke Orsino, whom she falls in love with. Her duty? To woo Olivia, the woman he loves, who of course in turn falls in love with Cesario, Viola's male alter ego. Thus, the play focuses on the many meanings of love. The sub-plots, which include the timeless comedic characters of the fool and the drunkard focus on a cunning plan to humiliate a pompous Puritan and on Viola's lost twin arriving to join in the romance. Parted Waters - By Robert F. Benjamin.  A humorous drama set in New Mexico, this contemporary tale of three generations of Hispanics wrestling with crypto-Judaism and assimilation into mainstream American culture is a piquant brew of drama and humor. Reynaldo, the eldest of the trio, does his best to navigate these issues and guide his family in true "Tevye-like" fashion. Dial ‘M’ For Murder - by Frederick Knott.  Tony Wendice has married his wife, Margot, for her money and now plans to murder her for the same reason. He arranges the perfect murder. He blackmails a scoundrel he used to know into strangling her for a fee of one thousand pounds, and arranges a brilliant alibi for himself. Unfortunately…the murderer gets murdered and the victim survives. But this doesn't baffle the husband: He sees his hireling's death as an opportunity to have his wife convicted for the murder of the man who tried to murder her, and that is what almost happens. Luckily, the police inspector from Scotland Yard and a young man who is in love with the wife discover the truth, and in a scene of almost unbearable suspense they trap the husband into revealing his guilt, thus freeing Margot.
