“I do love nothing in the world so well as you - is not that strange?”
Shakespeare's much-loved comedy, Much Ado About Nothing features Benedick, a wisecracking confirmed bachelor, and Beatrice, his favourite sparring partner. While Beatrice and Benedick hide their infatuation beneath witty barbs, young love blossoms as Hero and Claudio race to the altar. When the wicked Don John conspires to break up the wedding, will false accusations and misunderstandings prevent the young couple's happy ending?
Director Megan Dansie (Richard III, Romeo & Juliet) takes us to an English summer garden at the end of World War II, where returning soldiers and independent women celebrate, plot, and fall in love.
The large cast comprises Alex Antoniou, Beatrice Blackwell, Tony Busch, Nicholas Clippingdale, Joshua Coldwell, Lindsay Dunn, Gary George, Rose Harvey, Matt Houston, Miriam Keane, Madison Kirby, Olivia Lilburn, Brad Martin, Steve Marvanek, Bronwyn Palmer, Jack Robins, Angela Short, Georgia Stockham, Adam Tuominen and Anthony Vawser.
