Australian Dance Theatre 50th Anniversary Gala at Dunstan Playhouse

Australian Dance Theatre is Australia’s first contemporary dance company. Its Artistic Directors over the last 50 years are some of the most acclaimed choreographers in the country and will contribute to celebrating this milestone

In 1965 Dr Elizabeth Cameron Dalman OAM founded Australian Dance Theatre, aiming to ‘open the horizons for provocative contemporary dance’. For 50 years the company has stayed true to this vision and has produced some of the most exciting and iconic dance to come out of Australia. For this Gala event, Australian Dance Theatre presents dance works, film and documentation chronicling the artistic eras of the company from 1965 to today.

This great South Australian company will shine in its 50th year as one of the most significant and resilient dance companies to have evolved from the great social and cultural changes of Australia in the 1960’s.
