Adelaide's hottest new Fringe Hub, The A Club in Waymouth Street is the place to be during Fringe 2019, with a mix of award-winning shows and fresh new acts, there's something for everyone.
Two customised rooms within the venue have enabled the programming of almost 20 acts and more than 120 shows, sometimes up to six in one evening, so Fringe-goers can immerse themselves in one vibrant hub and enjoy a smorgasbord serving up everything from the standard comedy and burlesque fare, to sensual cabaret and song, sketch comedy and interactive theatre, all at the one location.
Award-winning producer Kerry Marsh said The A Club is set to go off this year with a full program of artists, performers, and shows, and an eclectic program mix ranging from traditional comedy all the way through to podcasts, to cabaret, sketch comedy, and everything in between.
"With sell-out shows directly from Melbourne and Edinburgh Fringes and others debuting right here at The A Club," Kerry said.
"We're certainly excited about the possibilities and believe we've got the mix right. We tested the waters late last year with some preview shows which sold out, so that was a great indicator and of course, having previously produced Adelaide fringe award winners, I'm pretty confident people will love what I have curated for A Club Fringe.
"In addition to our programmed shows, every night from 10 pm people can stay on, enjoying the ambiance as the venue transforms into the biggest and most colourful stage in town. We'll be switching it up a gear with Red Light Confidential and Late Nite Confidential both featuring guest appearances from visiting Fringe acts, burlesque and cabaret artists, Djs and so much more 'til the early hours.
Kerry Marsh said the late-night space will be a lot like the Fringe artist club of old where people can just hang out with their friends, have a dance, quiet drink even enjoy a cheeky cocktail, a bite to eat, and catch an impromptu sample of some of the shows on offer across the Fringe.
"We've created a comfortable vibe for everyone: Red light and Late Nite Confidential are edgy slices of Fringe life, but people can also kick back, relax and enjoy the speak easy club's atmosphere, sample our in-house shows and see snippets of popular shows from across fringe and maybe catch a glimmer of a gem they'd like to see later," said Kerry.
