How does a child cope with a brain injury? With the help of an elephant relatively easily!
"The Elephant of My Heart" kid's musical won 4 five star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2016 and now a smaller, storytelling version is heading to the Adelaide Fringe. This brings the author, Jessica Clements back to Australia where her brain haemorrhage occurred to in part thank those who saved her life!
"The Elephant of My Heart" is a true-life story of hope and the power of creativity and imagination. As a child, the writer Jessica Clements lived in Canberra and it was here that she suffered a brain haemorrhage. The story starts in the hospital on Lake Burley Griffin, when she hears a knocking on the door. When she opens it there stands an elephant who takes her on a journey of healing and recovery. Jessica is now an actress and she has come to Adelaide from the UK to tell the story of what happened to her in a hospital in Canberra in 1975. It's a one-woman, one-suitcase show and mixes storytelling and mindfulness. At the end of the show there is a short visualisation where Jessica introduces the audience to a very simple method of turning within. It offers the audience a gentle method to cope with the stresses of their lives.Venue: The "Bally", Gluttony, Rundle Rd, Rymill/Murlawirrapurka Park
